Technology Research Article

I understand that you probably know a lot about technology and computers before starting my class, but what do you really know about the technology outside of the basic computer?  In this assignment, you will first choose a product to research (see list below!) and compare the item you chose to a competitor with a similar product.  In this writing, pretend you are writing to someone who has no idea about this technology so you need to be sure to explain everything!!  Do not assume that the reader understands acronyms   (Ex: USB, WWW).

·  Do not compare “Sale” or “Specials” when determining pricing.  Use the everyday price to compare information since sales change daily/weekly.

·  Include a short bibliography citing your information.  All facts must be shared IN YOUR OWN WORDS (unless you are sharing details, such as the computers both have 500 Gigabyte Hard Drives and 17 inch display monitors, for example).

·  Be as detailed as possible!  Enjoy!  (5 sentences per paragraph minimum, but more are encouraged to help you earn full point value!)

o   Develop your writing as a 3 paragraph informative prompt.  In your first paragraph, inform the reader about the two items you chose and what you are comparing about them both.

o   In Paragraph 2, inform your reader about the tools and specifications of the similar products that you chose.  Be detailed, noting things such as screen size, megapixels, storage memory, and battery life.  You may include additional information not mentioned.

o   In the final paragraph, I want you to share in words which product you would prefer and why?  Was this choice based on price?  Compatibility with other devices?  How often would you use this item?  What age group would you recommend it for?  Is this something that would be used at home?  For a job?  At school?

You may research the two products on the internet.  Before submitting, make sure you typed 3 well-written paragraphs.  The first two paragraphs should inform the reader about the product and give us a feel for what it can do.  The third paragraph is your choice on which item you would choose and why you said that.  Remember to check spelling and grammar.
